if painting could be imagined as a feedback loop that reflects its
temporal containment. For instance, in logical terms, an image field is assembled through
progressive decisions. Alternately, evolving patterns within a colour layering process
might suggest a stream of options. In which case, predetermined actions
necessarily dissolve as the work proceeds and additions are
rebalanced through interpretation at every move. There could be a simple periodic
system within each image, while anticipation lessens as the painting
