After
making and exhibiting paintings in Australia since 1974, I began to work
in New Zealand in a sustained fashion in 1999. Becoming familiar with the
stronger ultra-violet light, shiny reflections and deep shadows of this
region initially resulted in a diverse group of paintings structured with
opaque and transparent colours.
